Google’s launching a new family feature for Google Play today called Family Library.

The feature will allow users to share apps, games, movies, TV shows or books from Google Play on Android devices. Movies, TV shows and books can be shared on iOS platforms and the Web

The free Family Library feature is in addition to the Google Play Music family plan, which allows six people to share a music subscription service for £14.99 a month.

To get started, you'll need to sign up for Family Library in Google Play and then you can begin inviting your family members -- although there's little to stop you from inviting friends as well. In the case of non-app purchases, things you buy can also be synced to iOS devices and accessed online.

You can also share purchasing power with family members by registering a credit or debit card for Family Library purchases. Google learned their lesson from the heat they previously took regarding in-app purchases, and they’ve built safeguards into the Family Library. Primary account holders will have the ability to review any purchases before they’re processed.
