Samsung is the No. 1 Smartphone Brand in Q2 2015

A new report from Counterpoint Research states that Samsung remained the top smartphone manufacturer globally for the second quarter

In global smartphone share, Samsung placed first with 21% to Apple’s 14%. As for particular regions, Samsung placed first with 14% to Apple’s 11%, first in Europe with 32% to Apple’s 16%, first in Latin America with 27% (Apple tied for third with Huawei), and first in the Middle East with 34%. Apple tied for third with ZTE and Alcatel.




You would have read the news that Samsung has had declining sales after the Launch of the Galaxy S6, but this has not stopped them from launching another dozen devices in the past few weeks. The brand has been focusing on offering budget devices priced below $100 to premium devices above $1000 ensuring that the demands of any budget are met. According to the Q2 2015 Market report, the brand has now a total Market share of 21% which is still Huge making them the number #1 brand in the world.

While Samsung is the smartphone leader globally, and in most continents, in North America it is Apple leading the way with a 31% share. Samsung is second with 24%, while LG garnered 15% of the North American market for third place. ZTE was fourth with TCL (Alcatel) fifth.


With the release of the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus this quarter along with the Galaxy S6 edge+ and the Galaxy Note 5, it will be interesting to see how the Q3 2015 figures will read for Apple and Samsung respectively.
